Polymers
The bio-plast range of products covers biodegradable compounds for injection moulding and sheet extrusion / thermoforming.
SHJ 700 I - Injection Moulding
bio-plast injection moulding compounds can easily be processed on conventional injection moulding machines. Moulds with hot runner systems are well suitable.
SHJ 700 S - Extrusion / Thermoforming
bio-plast extrusion / thermoforming compounds perform well on standard sheet extrusion lines. Sheet on rolls may be thermoformed into various disposable packaging and catering products.
Injection Moulding
bio-plast injection moulding compound can easily be processed on conventional injection moulding machines. Moulds with hot runner systems are well suitable.
Injection temperature is below 180°C, mold temperature in the range of 35-40°C. Scrap from start-up and process may be re-fed up to a level of 10%.
Pre-drying of resin is not required as injection grade is delivered in sealed bags with aluminum liners to prevent excessive moisture absorption during shipment.
Product range covers:
- cutlery
- golf tees
- clips and hooks used in horticulture
- pots with and without lids
- office supplies such as pens, rulers and pencil sharpeners
- office supplies such as pens, rulers and pencil sharpeners
Extrusion / Thermoforming
bio-plast extrusion / thermoforming compound is widely used on sheet extrusion lines with vertical, inclined and three-roll stack arrangement.
With ambient relative humidity levels not exceeding 85% a pre-drying period of 3-4 hours at 70-75 °C is recommended. Standard hot air drying equipment is sufficient.
Best results are achieved on single screw extruders with a venting zone operated at 0,7mbar. Melt temperature is around 190-200°C, roller temperature in the range of 75-85°C. Scrap from start-up and edge trim can easily be re-fed. Achievable thickness range is 350µm to 1,5mm depending on the equipment used.
Product range covers:
- ice-cream and dairy containers
- lids for coffee-to-go cups
- containers and clamshall packaging for convenience food
- plates and punnets
